Too many names to mention in one sentence, but I hope you'll 'meet' them via this website, and possibly in person one day. I breed Great Danes in Harlequin and Black, and have a separate breeding line in Blue and Black. |
|
My aim is to breed Great Danes of superb temperament that make wonderful family pets, and that are healthy and live a long life. I have bred Danes that have lived up to 14 years old, and our Domino is currently 11 years old. |
As such, most of the breeding/pedigree's are foreign (mainly German), coming from the very best long lived and healthy lines - including 'von Harlekin', 'de Royal Topaz', 'des Pulkerimmi' and 'Allours'. These lines all went back on famous German breeding, and virtually all incorporate the late great 'Gallo von Harlekin'.
Our older Danes have recently been involved in the LUPA project, and have all been tested negative for genetic heart disease, and have donated their DNA for research (as test cases against affected dogs), in order to find the genetic mode of inheritance for Dilated Cardio Myopathy.
Hopefully a test can be developed to enable breeders to know which Danes carry this disease, and then stop using those Danes for breeding - so we can eradicate this disease.
Every litter I breed has been carefully planned, with an attempt to improve health and long life - and retain the wonderful Dane temperament that makes them such good pets. We usually keep a puppy from each litter - but the rest of the puppies require exceptionally good new homes with families who will love and spoil them for their entire lifetime. So puppy enquiries are welcome.
In addition, I have Stud Dogs which are available for use by other breeders, and occasionally well informed people with nicely bred bitches. Enquiries welcome.
As a hobby, myself and Rhodri, both show our Danes, and Rhodri also does Agility with Thor and more recently Venus. They are on the Display Team for Aberporth and district. |
