Currently we have only one Spinone 'Cesca' aka Montecani Splash of Sirmione, she was bred by Catherine, and is from the famous Montecani line of Tracy Davies. Her name is pronounced 'Cheska', and she is a real live wire - more work than all of the Danes put together, but what a loving, happy little dog she is - we love her to bits. She won't be the only one we have, although we intend to keep one of her puppies in 2010.
Italian Spinone are one of a few hunt, point, retrieve Gundogs, and the initention is to work her to the Gun, however, to date - we've not done so, and i'm not sure she is obedient enough!
Cesca was a birthday present from Kris to Alan, as he wanted his own dog, and something smaller than a Dane - so along came Cesca - a pet that we could work if we wanted, do Agility with if we wanted, and just have fun with and possibly show.
Please blame Mick Brind for this - as Kris has known Mick for over 15 years and he has always had Soninone - and Kris fell in love with the breed because of it. Mick is a keen Spinone exhibitor, and also Judges at Championship level, and Stewards at lots of Championship shows.
Because we are new to Spinone, and 'Dainoak' didn't seem to suit, Kris and alan have jointly registered the affix 'Sirmione' (after the wonderful walled, medieaval town in Italy which is built alongside Lake Garda, and that we visited in 2005).
Anyway, Cesca is a little monkey - she has 'adopted' Dizzy as her canine Mother, and totally adores her. Cesca is very fast, and we have to be careful with her off the lead as if she see's a bird - she is gone! However, she is the happiest, lovingest little dog, and is really adorable and cute. She took ages to get her to be able to travel in the car without throwing up (literally a year!!! - give me Danes anyday!), - but she's grasped the concept now. Cesca has recently started agility - and loves it, think she has real potential so watch this space!
